A lecture and film series featuring national and local leaders in
Traditional Neighborhood Design and New Urbanism

February’s sessions are scheduled for Tuesdays, February 12 and 19, 2008.

The Creek Club (44 Saturday Road) in the I’On neighborhood, off Mathis Ferry
Road in Mt. Pleasant
Details:
 | February 12 – Subdivided, a film by Dean Terry, will be shown. This
documentary film focuses on life in contemporary suburbia and the
struggle of the residents of Little Forest Hills, Texas to maintain a
spirit of community in the face of encroaching suburban sprawl. It
features Andres Duany, Robert Putnam, and James Howard Kunstler.

Light refreshments, including popcorn, will be provided beginning at 6:00
PM, with the movie beginning at 6:30.
 | February 19 – Steve
Dudash, the landscape architect who designed Perseverance Square in
I’On, and Vince Graham, I’On’s developer, will talk about landscape
design and the characteristics of great outdoor rooms and public
squares. |
Refreshments provided beginning at 6:00 PM, with the program beginning at
6:30.
 | March 11 – Sheila Wertimer and Macky Hill will discuss the interaction of
landscape with the build environment and how this interaction is at work
in I’On. Sheila is the gifted landscape architect who designed
Perseverance Park, and Macky is I’On’s design consultant |
 | March 25 –
“Global Warming Guy,” the viral video, will be shown; and Dana Beach,
who is featured in the video, will discuss the topic. In addition, Dana
will talk about the intersection of urban planning, development, and
climate change and the ways that where and how we live impact the
environment. Dana Beach is the Executive Director of one of Charleston’s
most effective environmental nonprofit organizations, Coastal
Conservation League. |

April 8 -
Celebrate the debut of I’On’s new church with a discussion of sacred
architecture with architect
Andrew Gould and Father John
Parker. This event is at
6:30 p.m. at the Holy Ascension Orthodox Church in I’On.
